Ian Makone elected Harare Mayor

Veteran opposition politician Ian Makone is the brand new mayor of Harare, after an election held on Monday.

He takes over from Jacob Mafume, after it was believed CCC chief Nelson Chamisa has most well-liked Makone as a substitute.

Makone has a powerful historical past in opposition politics, having served as chief advisor to the late MDC chief Morgan Tsvangirai and in addition chief secretary within the Prime Minister’s Workplace through the Authorities of Nationwide Unity.
