Re: “Leaders react to officer’s jokes on death: ‘Sick to my stomach’ ” [Sept. 15, A1]:
I need to assist our police division and the officers who’re supposed to guard and serve the folks of Seattle. Sadly, I’m continually reminded that they’re all a part of a company, the Seattle Police Officers Guild, that fights tooth and nail to restrict commonsense reforms.
SPOG President Mike Solan was elected in 2020 by greater than 500 of 750 votes in a union representing greater than 1,250 officers and sergeants. So, every time I work together with a member of the Seattle Police Division, at the back of my thoughts I’m considering, “There’s a great probability this individual helps their management, who chortle on the dying of individuals like Jaahnavi Kandula and lots of others by the hands of our police division.”
It’s guilt by affiliation.
If there’s a silent majority of officers who don’t assist SPOG president Solan, then present us and vote him out.
